Access to clean water and sanitation remains a critical issue in northern Syria, especially in displacement camps where 2 million people are forced to live in overcrowded camps. Without proper sanitation, families are constantly at risk of waterborne diseases, making daily survival a struggle. The situation is particularly dire for children, who face life-threatening risks, as this winter saw a surge in respiratory infections among kids under five. The rehabilitation of water points has stalled due to funding gaps, forcing communities to rely on unsafe water sources.

In response, we are delivering essential water, sanitation, and hygiene services to ensure that families have access to safe water and proper sanitation. Our efforts include rehabilitating water networks and stations, installing solar energy systems to sustain clean water services, and providing water tanks in camps, schools, and health centers. We are distributing clean drinking water daily to the camps, alongside hygiene kits, soap, and jerrycans to ensure families can store water safely.

We are also addressing waste management by distributing garbage containers, collecting solid waste, and ensuring the proper disposal of sewage. In camps, we are constructing and rehabilitating toilet facilities, including those for people with special needs. Furthermore, our teams are conducting hygiene awareness sessions in schools and camps, ensuring that families know how to protect themselves from preventable illnesses.

Through these initiatives, we are working to provide clean water, improve sanitation, and promote hygiene practices that will save lives. This is not just about water; it’s about restoring dignity, health, and the well-being for families who have already endured so much.
